The city of Las Vegas partners with Terranet Communications and Baicells to deploy a private LTE network

The new private network is part of a four-part plan to transform the city of Las Vegas into a 5G-ready smart city, democratize access to broadband connectivity and bridge the digital divide for citizens of Las Vegas

Terranet Communications, a provider of customized and fully integrated LTE and 5G high-speed private networks, and Baicells, an equipment manufacturer of 4G LTE and 5G Near Radio End-to-End solutions, announced the successful deployment of the largest LTE in the world. country, the 5G -private municipal network ready for the city of Las Vegas.

The City of Las Vegas turned to Terranet Communications to deploy the private network due to concerns over the digital divide many citizens and students were facing due to the increased demand for distance work and education caused. by the appearance of COVID-19.

At the time, more than 30,000 children did not have access to the Internet and struggled to stay connected to their schools and keep up with their classmates. Michael Sherwood, City of Las Vegas Innovation Director, said, “Terranet Communications’ 5G private LTE network was built for our specific needs. This network has enabled the city to provide a necessary service to our students and citizens, while adding to the technologies that are part of our innovation hub.

Bob Stone, Baicells Carrier Solutions Manager for North America, said: “Setting up a private LTE network in Las Vegas was no small task. Our plug and play equipment allowed us to set up a proof of concept project in 45 days, and that was crucial to get the network off the ground.

“Terranet Communications has been instrumental in achieving this goal alongside Baicells and we are very happy to help bridge the digital divide and provide the Las Vegas community with the Internet connectivity it deserves. “

A recent study by analyst group Frost & Sullivan, which predicts that the sector could generate significant business opportunities with a market value of $ 2.46 trillion by 2025.

Terranet Communications CEO and Co-Founder Bart van Aardenne said: “The world recognizes that broadband is as essential as other basic human needs. Terranet’s end-to-end design and deployment approach on the Las Vegas private network is a significant example of how our company’s team of experts and top infrastructure partners, like Baicells, can respond quickly and inexpensively to real needs for specialized, robust, reliable and secure broadband connectivity.

“Democratized access to connectivity can help uplift communities by improving access to important information and services and other quality of life programs that increase equality of access to information and services, improve living conditions and ensure that no one is left behind ”.
