LONDON – Leading animation and visual effects studio Cinesite celebrates its 30th anniversary, a milestone for the independent studio which has produced groundbreaking work for more than 200 film and series productions, including some of the most successful films. popular and most critically acclaimed of the past three decades.

“Marking this milestone is a cause of great pride and celebration,” said Antony Hunt, CEO of Cinesite Group. “We have experienced incremental growth, both in the size and location of our studios and in the scale and complexity of our vfx and animation projects over the years. To celebrate the studio’s legacy, Cinesite released a trailer showcasing some of their most beloved and memorable works from Space Jam, Band of Brothers, World War Z, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, X-Men and James The Bond franchise as well as Oscar and BAFTA award-winning films The Revenant & The Golden Compass and animated films like Riverdance: The Animated Adventure and The Addams Family 1 & 2. the Visual Effect Society (VES), Emmy, AEAF & RTS.

“We want to inspire the next generation of storytellers to push the boundaries of visual effects and animation and in order to do that, we must all honor the films and artists that came before us,” said Dave Rosenbaum, Creative Director by Cinesite. “In all aspects of life, we often forget to go back and look at the defining moments and inspiring people who have brought us to where we are. This celebration is our way of doing it and it gives us a great perspective as we move forward. ”

In 2014 Cinesite started working on animated films and over the past five years has directed eleven impressive animated feature films for a range of clients including Sony Pictures Animation, MGM, 3QU Media & Aniventure. The studio has just completed production of Blazing Samurai directed by Rob Minkoff (Lion King) starring Mel Brooks, Ricky Gervais and Samuel L Jackson. Currently in production is Pulitzer Prize winner Berkeley Breathed’s Hitpig, with Peter Dinklage as the main character. The studio recently announced that it is in production on the 6-part animated series Iwájú for Disney Animation & Kugali.

Founded in 1991, Cinesite is now expanding its reach and capacity to several studios in North America and Europe. Starting today, artists and fans can browse an interactive timeline that reveals defining moments for each year. In the early 90s, Cinesite made history with the first digital processing of a feature film, the restoration of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Cinesite worked with over 18,000 special effects elements for Space Jam, using techniques never before used to make basketball superstar Michael Jordan interact seamlessly in an animated world, with a cavalcade of cartoon characters.

Cinesite is the only company to have both built the 1:24 scale physical model of Hogwarts (which is displayed at the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tour) and created CGI digital blueprints of the Sorcerer’s Stone. Cinesite delivered 2,000 vfx shots of the 8 movie franchise creating the moving portrait effects, the time travel sequence in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, various panoramic outdoor panoramas of Hogwarts environments, the Patronus doe, the ghosts and snake-shaped muzzle of Lord Voldemort.

* Creation of the long-awaited and explosive encounter of Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers in Avengers: Endgame

* Be listed in the Sunday Times International Track 200 which lists the UK’s fastest growing companies

* Recreate the remarkable 1975 Dodgers Stadium concert, with a crowd of 50,000 for the award-winning film Rocketman.

* Teaming up with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) to create The Addams Family, an animated film that reintroduced family to a whole new generation.

Cinesite’s longevity can only be attributed to its employees, thanks to years of working with talented artists, engineers and support staff who have continuously shown their dedication to advancing the art of visual storytelling and to pushing artistic and technical limits. Many hands have helped bring Cinesite to this pivotal year. In recognition of this Cinesite will host an online commentary event for all of its international staff to celebrate their collective achievements and share a vision for the future.

The company has long-standing relationships with top studios and producers around the world and has launched the careers of many successful supervisors, producers and visual effects artists.
